ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY

AI-USE POLICY

SHARPE INDUSTIES

AI is a production tool and creative collaborator at Sharpe Industries.

It does not replace human creative authority.

I am a writer and an author. AI does not write my fiction for me.

01. I am a writer and an author.

AI does not write my fiction for me.

I don’t hold that line out of any moral sense of self-righteousness. I hold it because that is where my soul lies. Writing is what I do. The stories, characters, scenes, dialogue, and final prose published under my name are mine to write.

02. AI has strengths and weaknesses. Fiction is one of its weaknesses.

For that reason, I do not use AI to write my fiction.

I have no issue with its use in brainstorming, critique, continuity checking, research assistance, editing discussion, production problem-solving, or other forms of creative support. Those are tools around the writing. They are not the writing itself.

03. I am a writer. I am not everything else.

I am not an illustrator, musician, songwriter, producer, animator, programmer, or website designer.

Very few people have the time and talent to master every discipline required to build a complete creative universe. I am not one of them.

I view AI as a force multiplier: a tool that allows independent creatives to work in areas outside their primary expertise and to build things that would otherwise be beyond their reach.

04. I believe in honesty, transparency, and responsibility in the use of AI.

Sharpe Industries uses AI-generated and AI-assisted visuals, artwork, music, design elements, and other production assets.

Using AI to create artwork does not make me an artist. Using AI to create music does not make me a musician or producer. I will not claim those titles simply because I directed the creation of those assets.

Those assets exist because I conceived them, directed them, selected them, revised them when necessary, and chose to include them in the larger work. I take responsibility for what Sharpe Industries publishes.

05. AI is a tool used to build the larger Sharpe Industries universe.

The purpose is not to pretend that I possess skills I do not have. The purpose is to allow one independent creator to build across writing, visual media, music, web design, and other disciplines while remaining honest about how those things were made.

Where AI is materially involved, I have no interest in hiding that fact.

06. Everyone gets to choose what they consume. Everyone also gets to choose what they create.

I believe many, not all, arguments that any use of AI is inherently “lazy,” or that “if you use AI for it, you shouldn’t have it,” come from an incomplete understanding of the process and of what some creators are trying to build.

Nobody is required to read, watch, listen to, purchase, or support AI-assisted work.

That choice belongs to the audience.

But no one else gets to decide that you are forbidden from building the worlds you want to build simply because the tools you used are not the tools they would have chosen.
